New York Mets third baseman David Wright burst onto the baseball scene in 2004 and quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with at third base and at the plate. Wright batted .293 with 17 doubles, 14 home runs and 40 RBI in 2004. He improved on those stats in 2005, batting .306 with 42 doubles, 27 home runs and 102 RBI, and in 2006 he batted .311 with 40 doubles, 26 home runs and 116 RBI, and also made a memorable All-Star Game debut, belting a home run in his first at-bat. Thanks to a recently signed contract extension, Wright will be at the hot corner for the Mets for years to come.
